title : ACE @ Mal Artha Gading

Today I visited Mall Artha Gading, another large mall near to MOI.

Why didn't I get to play in this when I was a kid??

I am starting to like this place very much because of the ACE megastore which apparently seemed to sell practically everything you’d ever need in a mansion, factory or even hotel for that matter and I am sure I’ll be coming to ACE a few more times.

"Honey.. let's get that for the garden..."

Always a good idea to prepare for extra guests...

Always wanted to store all my cakes...

Cooking?

ACE is a home appliance / consumer domestic appliance / hardware megastore, the top level sells all manner of furniture and household construction materials, fish-tanks and accessories of all sizes, toys, garden and pond materials and furniture, garden shelters, tables, swings, coolers, full-fledge AWD buggies and ATVs, sporting and exercise equipment, fishing and camping equipment, ladders, telescopes, paints, fans, toilets, showers, bathtubs, generators, flood lights, safes, electrical items, lamps, everything you’d ever need in your house, workplace or factory for that matter.

I WANT.

The second floor is pretty much the household necessities and domestic appliances, ovens, microwaves, clocks, tupper-ware, bottles, coffee-makers, irons and ironing boards, DIY, professional hardware, power winches, protective gear, fridges, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, shelves, kitchen cooking equipment, stoves, car and motor vehicle paraphernalia, carpets, flower vases, lawn and gardening equipment, candles and more!

Candles galore!

I bought a pack of tealight candles. In the candles section was candles galore, with all types of candles and aromatic candles available, even candle types that I’ve never seen before, but I had to resist the urge of spending insane amounts of money on really expensive and exotic aromatic candles that went into half a million Rp!

Staying alone, you have to do the cleaning yourself, in another section I learnt all there is to learn about the various different mop-types on sale, from the classic yarn mop to, various cloth mops, to 3M Microfibre fabric mops, to MagiClean’s Velcro-fibre dry-mops to RubberMaid’s longitudinal microfiber mops, to sponge, or other absorbent materials.

The classic traditional yarn mop that we all are accustomed to have many disadvantages, to clean a floor, the mop must be first soaked in a bucket of water, into which some cleaning solution has usually been added, and swept against the floor surface, such yarn mops require a bucket of water and a wringer to strain excess water from the mop, to control the amount of water transferred to the floor. The classic yarn mop cannot absorb dirt and dust, wastes water, is unable to soak up excess water, requires wringing and bulky buckets/wringer and the threads of yarn are sometimes caught in the legs of furniture.

MagiClean’s dry-mop or dust-mop is designed to pick up dry, loose and dry contamination such as dust, earth and sand from the surface, but is limited in effectiveness, disposable (non eco-friendly), raises expense over time, and cannot absorb fat/oil-based liquid dirt, cannot be washed and cannot soak up liquids. The dry-mop can in many instances It is merely a broom replacement and is only able hold a limited amount of dust or sand within itself before requiring replacement.

Other professional dry mops consist of a flat sheet of micro fiber textile or sheets with a surface of looped yarn, usually about 15 cm wide, and comes in variable lengths, some of these more expensive mops have built-in wringing ratchet mechanisms but nevertheless still require a minimum of technical tinkering before knowing how to “operate” the mop, although the advantages of a 3M’s and RubberMaid’s professional mops have far superior properties of the traditional yarn mop. They are able to dissolve and absorb fat, mud and dried-in liquid contaminations, and can absorb liquids many times their own weight, are made for pre-moisting, where the mops are pre-soaked with an suitable amount of water mixed with an appropriate amount detergent, hence not requiring additional water in a bucket.

This ideal amount is often recommended by the manufacturer in terms of weight percent of water per weight of the dry mop, for example "175% water per weight of the dry mop". Mops for pre-moisting are flat sheets of (often microfiber) textile, usually about 15 cm wide.

But I found the SUPERmop! The one mop that completely won me over, it is microfiber sponge-based and doesn’t really look like a mop at all, but the sponge has superior dirt absorbent properties to a broom or MagiClean’s dry-mop and all the absorbed dirt can be simply washed off by rinsing or machine-washing, completely washable and can be used wet or dry.

Next the mop is superior to all the above mentioned mops, due to the nature of the construction, it will not leave caught yarn threads under furniture legs, yet has all the super-absorbent properties of the professional mops, but far superior! My supermop is able to absorb liquids up to nearly 10x its own weight because of the sponge! The other micro-fibre based textile mops can only absorb 2-4x their own weight in liquids, moreover its also good at cleaning small and tight areas, and the wringing mechanism requires no instruction or strength, simple pull the handle to wring the mop dry, only requiring just one pull.

My SUPERMOP

Absorbs liquids fast, wrings fast, absorbs dirt and liquids, requires no bucket, doesn’t require strength, doesn’t leave yarn-threads behind and so from ACE I bought my Super-mop! The sponge head is also easily replaceable unlike traditional mops where the entire head has to be replaced.
