Jakarta Fair Kemayoran

Today I visited the PT. Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Jakarta Fair 2011 at the Jakarta MICE EXPO Hall, which is the biggest fair in Jakarta and their equivalent national day celebrations.

It’s a massive fair, show casing literally just about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING imaginable and a must visit if you are in Jakarta every May-July period. It’s an annual affair held for about 32 days from June 9 until July 10, 2011. Jakarta Fair will showcase a variety of goods in the country, and involve a variety of large-scale enterprises, medium, small, and cooperatives from all regions in Indonesia.

Jakarta Fair this year was held for the 44th time in order to commemorate the anniversary of Jakarta Ke-484.

The fair is expected to become a major tourist and shopping destination for millions of visitors both from Greater Jakarta, from various regions throughout Indonesia, as well as visitors from foreign countries and organizers are expecting four million people over the duration of the fair and a target value of approximately USD $3.5 trillion in transactions.

Jakarta Fair Go theme-44 Year 2011 is "Accelerating Improvement Participate Jakarta Fair Indonesia's Welfare Society"

Jakarta Fair in 2011 will see 2600 companies with 1300 booths, followed by state-owned enterprises and businesses from almost all provinces in Indonesia. There are furniture products, interiors, building materials, automotive, handicraft, garment, sports & health, telecommunications, banking, stationary, computers & electronics, property, cosmetics, food & drinks, mobile phones, toys, shoes, branded fashion, leather , branded product, multi-product, services and products of state enterprises, creative products, and various other products

These "booths" are Massive! (For a 32-day fair)

Lotus Elise

HALL A - Furniture

Dazzling lights

exquisite furniture.

Traditional designs

luxurious carpeting

Royal treatment anyone?

Everything is GOLD!

This is a rather cool fan that the picture can't depict. The blades literally fan out when the fan starts spinning, and produces a surpisingly strong breeze, and the blades close in like the petals of a flower when the fan winds down! Pretty neat.

I want! Yours for only 70 million Rp (S$10,000)

Geely is present too.

Cars for sale at the fair.

BIG Tom & Jerry booth selling mattresses

Need milk?

Internet and telecommunications

Need cheese?

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

For people with BIG FEET. Size 150,000

We have Blueberries and blackberries.. Now with Redberry too

Yes. Internet here is still sold by data quota and is not unlimited

Instant noodles galore.

Live bands and performances throughout the entire duration of the fair

That guy must be perspiring bullets in there.

Rumah Hantu Indonesia

This is actually pretty popular in Indonesia, their commercialized equivalent of universities "fright-night", for 25,000rp, you get to scare yourself silly for a few minutes with "ghosts" and "ghouls" jumping at you.

Ghosts need to take a rest too.

As you can see, long queue of people who paid to get themselves shocked.

Hmm, I'll keep my money and get shocked at my credit card bill instead.

Jakarta is finally building an MRT system and the project is being show-cased for the first time.

Construction will begin in 2014 and the first line is expected to be ready by 2018.

Interior mock-up

Kudos.

That's the end, I think i managed to cover 80% of the fair in one whole day.
There's very little layout management, everything is everywhere and all over the place.
The booth on your left could be selling handphones and the booth on your right selling cheese.

Likewise, the booth on your right could be selling Chocolates and the booth on your left is selling high-end Car audio equipment.

Think of the fair as the great fashion/book/car/computer IT/security/everything fair all compressed into a single fair for 32 days.

Pretty interesting.
